Lauren Bird began playing her own music at open mics around Belfast in late 2013 after being given a gentle push by her singing teacher Caroline Pugh. After suffering with repetitive strain injury in her hands from playing the piano and guitar, she turned to the ukulele to write and perform with.
She released her six track self-titled EP in May 2014 and it went to number one on the Bandcamp acoustic chart the next day.
The singer-songwriter from Tyrone brings a sweet, slightly awkward charm to the stage whilst singing songs about the trials and tribulations of being alive.
Aaron Cunningham of Chordblossom writes, "one listen to Lauren Bird’s music, whether through her tracks or her live show, is enough to showcase her instant appeal. Her personal style of songwriting marries often sad and reflective subject matter with an upbeat and happy sound. Throughout each of her songs, Bird’s pop sensibilities and endearing charm shine through".
Her recent Indiegogo campaign successfully raised 105% of the funds needed to record her debut album 'The Inbetween', which is out now.
