Bio

Hailing from the North Coast of Ireland, Mandy is the eldest daughter of singer songwriter David McWilliams (Day’s of Pearly Spencer). Her mother Gil McWilliams was also involved in the folk music scene in the 60’s and 70’s. This cultural and family heritage is inherent in her songwriting.

Mandy writes her songs very much from the heart. With her acoustic guitar and her wealth of life experience, she creates beautifully formed lyrics and melodies. Her voice is pure and strong and can't help but make an emotional connection to the listener.

Mandy first took to the stage with her self-penned songs in 2013, and since then things have been moving fast. She has been a part of The Belfast Nashville Songwriters Festival for the past five years, taken part in two live BBC radio concerts with Ralph McLean, supported Diana Jones at The Real Music Club Belfast, played Portstewart Songwriters Festival, The Atlantic Sessions, and guested on Colum Sands BBC Folk Club to name but a few.

Mandy's debut EP, Mandy Bingham Vol. 1, was released on the 1st June 2015.

"It is an eclectic and intimate six-song offering. It shines with happiness, wrestles with negativity, looks into the eyes of oblivion and unmasks parenting with absolute honesty". (Cara Gibney - Gigging NI)

The song from the EP "Calm Before The Storm" earned a mention from Tom Robinson and was played on his BBC 6 Music introducing Show.

"it's an outstandingly strong debut" - PureM Magazine, Dublin

In 2016 Mandy played a series of shows across Ireland showcasing different women singer-songwriters from the north of Ireland (Songs From The Heart).

On the 6th of October 2017, Mandy released her own single version of her late father's famous song 'The Days Of Pearly Spencer" to mark, to the day, the 50th anniversary of the original release back in 1967.

The album was recorded at Millbank Studios, Northern Ireland and produced by Michael Mormecha. It features guest artists including, Stephen "Malojian" Scullion, Anthony Toner, Michael Mormecha, Laura McFadden, Bob Speers, Edelle McMahon, Janet Henry and The Arco String Quartet.

Some reviews are linked to above.

In everything, Mandy is accompanied by her husband Graham, who plays lap steel guitar, sings harmonies and generally runs the show!. Graham also has an integral role in the arrangement and development of new songs.
